The Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), the Government of Holguín and the Government of Gibara call to participate in the 16th Gibara International Film Festival (FIC Gibara 2020) to be held from 5 to 11 July 2020 in Gibara, Holguin, Cuba.
The contest, chaired by Jorge Perugorría, opens its call to all cinematographic and audiovisual production, which will be shown in its different competitive and parallel sections.
Audiovisual works in original language may be submitted, with Spanish subtitles, completed from 2018 onwards.
It will compete in the following categories:
– Fiction feature film
– Fiction short film
– Documentary feature film
– Documentary short film
– Animation and video art
– Unpublished script
– Cinema under construction (feature films and documentary)
The jury of each category will be made up of recognized national and international figures from cinema, audiovisual and culture in general. A Lucia Prize will be awarded in each competitive category, and as many awards as they deem appropriate. In each case the decision will be final.
In the Cinema under construction section, the Humberto Solás Prize will be awarded to the work that most honors the Poor Cinema Manifesto defended by the filmmaker. A prize will also be awarded – in cash – for the best feature film or documentary and the best unpublished script.
The admission period expires on March 31, 2020.
The works must be delivered in Bluray and / or digital format (H.264). In the case of fiction films that are selected for the official competition, a copy may be sent in DCP WITHOUT ENCRYPTING. All must be issued to the following address:
